EN 60950

EN 60950 is applicable in all countries of the European Union. Certain countries of the European Union may have additional requirements.

The Official Journal has published an updated list of Low Voltage Directive harmonized standards, which can be downloaded in PDF format from the European Union's site .

The harmonised version of EN 60950 is now:

The following is a list of the major differences between this standard and IEC 60950:

  • Component Requirements for EN 60950 are given in Annex ZA.
  • Circumstances under which protection against short circuits, excess current and earth faults can be provided in the building installation, rather than as an integral part of the product, are described in Clause 2.7.1
  • Amendment A11 of EN 60950 refers to EN 60825-1, which brings some LED's into the scope of the standard.

Note: This list is not complete.  Please refer to the standard itself for full information.
