REQUIREMENTS
The product must be provided with one of the following means of connection to the primary power supply: - terminals for permanent connection to the supply - a non-detachable power supply cord for permanent
connection to the supply be means of a plug- an appliance inlet for connection of a detachable power supply cord- a mains plug that is part of direct plug in equipment
Power supply cord allowed by the standard are: - rubber insulated, of synthetic rubber and not lighter than
ordinary tough rubber sheathed flexible cord according to IEC 245. - polyvinyl chloride insulated; for equipment of mass 3 kg or less, no lighter than light polyvinyl chloride sheathed flexible
cord according to IEC 227; for equipment of mass more than 3 kg, no lighter than ordinary polyvinyl chloride sheathed flexible cord according to IEC 227. Table 11 of the standard specifies minimum
cross-sectional areas of conductors according to rated current. The standard requires that
non-detachable power supply cords are anchored in such a way that the point of connection are relieved of strain.Moveable equipment is considered by IEC 60950 to involve
a slightly increased risk of shock, due to extra strain on the supply cord in normal use, which may cause the disconnection of the earth conductor and a leakage current hazard. MANUFACTURERSYou can get information on power supply cords from the following list of manufacturers. Feller
